Mark Hackbarth, MD has devoted his practice to the specialization of pain medicine and spinal care for over 20 years. Dr. Hackbarth has a wealth of experience in medicine.. He earned his medical degree from the Oral Roberts University School of Medicine. Then he went to the University of Illinois in Chicago internship/residency program to train in general surgery. He later completed a burn surgery fellowship at the famous Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He also had worked as an emergency room physician at the Methodists Hospitals in Dallas. Dr. Hackbarth later trained in anesthesiology at University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Hospital, where he also spent a time as a subspecialty resident in pain management. In order to further his training in pain management, Dr. Hackbarth then completed his training at the University of Cincinnati where he spent a year of study in pain management, which included chronic pain, acute pain, cancer pain and pediatric pain. Besides the formal education, Dr. Hackbarth has seen and treated a vast variety of pain problems over the years.
Dr. Hackbarth is board certified in Anesthesiology, certified as a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP), and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Hackbarth has been a member of the American Board of Pain Medicine, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Texas Pain Society, American Academy of Pain Management, American Pain Society, International Spinal Injection Society, International Society of Spinal Endoscopists,, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Society for Pain Practice Management, and American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
Dr. Hackbarth has been on the cutting edge of pain medicine. He is the first physician in Arkansas to implant an occipital stimulator for headache pain. He was the first physician in Texas to use multi-probe cold radiofrequency for lumbar facet pain. Dr. Hackbarth was one of the first physicians in Texas to use PRP or platelet rich plasma for pain disorders, and it was reported that he was the first in Texas to use autologous stem cells for treatment of the lumbar disk.
He has a special interest in regenerative care and other advanced techniques to give better and longer lasting relief in those patients suffering with pain.
